Curious how yogaĀ teacher training can impact your life?

Here's whatĀ Marjaana shared with our community:

____________________________________________________________

I just wanted to come and say that I feel so much happiness these days!Ā šŸ„°

The last few years have been really tough and I am just starting to realize how bad I had been feeling. I haven't been myself (happy and energized) in a long time!

I have been feeling a lot better since I started my Happy Jack Yoga journey. It has been part of my healing story.

I have had my struggles in my jobs, and lots of sorrow from my parents fighting cancer.

About a month ago we got amazing news about my mom, she does not have any active cancer in her body! She really has fought a lot and she is doing so well!

She is my hero!Ā šŸ˜Ā And my dad is doing so well also with his cancer treatments.

I shared with all of you about 2 months ago that I was starting a new job in a maternity and contraception clinic as a ward nurse (middle management).

The good news?

It's super simple.Ā

Successful yoga teachers aren't afraid to speak their truth.Ā šŸ”„

They're not afraid to bring theirĀ real selves into their teaching.

They're willing to take a stand, be unique, and unapologetically share what they believe.Ā

The bad news?

Not everyone is gonna like you speaking your truth.Ā šŸ˜¬

You will lose people. Even some that are close to you.Ā

Most yogis want to be liked by everyone. I get it. I was a people pleaser too.Ā šŸ™‹ā€ā™‚ļø

But you can't please 100% of your students.Ā

No one can.

Think about it...

Would you rathe...

College life in my forties (šŸ¤“) is much different than in my twenties (šŸŗ)!

A lot has happened this Fall, so I thought Iā€™d give you a little updateā€¦

1ļøāƒ£ I celebrated my 42nd birthday. šŸŽ‰

2ļøāƒ£ My social media accounts were hacked during the first week of school. šŸ‘ŽĀ Thanks to an incredible friend who worked magic, I'm back in business!

3ļøāƒ£ Harvard Divinity School has been truly transformative. ā¤ļø

The theme of this first semesterĀ is ā€œYoga as Spiritual Care.ā€Ā

Weā€™ve all experienced yogaā€™s mental and physical benefits, yet I would suggest the spiritual benefits are even greater. šŸ™

My daily routine is somewhat of a spiritual boot camp:

šŸ’› Sadhana (practice) in my apartment
šŸ’› Svadhyaya (study) at Harvard
šŸ’› Sangha (community) connection with our HJY tribe online

And the best part...

All that Iā€™ve been reading, experiencing, and practicing has culminated in a brand new course that Iā€™ll facilitate next month at HJY University:

Yoga as Spiritual Care
RYT-25-hour certification
Dec 5-9, 2023

Ā

Have you ever felt like you donā€™t belong, or everyone is going to find out that you donā€™t deserve your achievements?

Ā

If you can relate to those feelings of chronic self-doubt, youā€™ve probably experienced imposter syndrome.

Youā€™re not alone - studies suggest 70% of people experience imposter syndrome at some point in their career.Ā

Overall, imposter syndrome stems from a high sense of self-doubt. Instead of attributing your success to your skills, you might downplay your success and attribute it to luck.

Ā

Signs You Might Be Suffering from Imposter Syndrome:

Do you relate to any of these patterns?

  • Perfectionism. You may set high goals for yourself. Because your goal is perfection, the smallest mistakes may make you feel like a failure.
  • Attribute success to luck. You downplay your success because you don't believe you deserve success, or you believe you're just lucky.
  • Unable to recognize success. Instead of celebrating your accomplishments, you worry that others will
